"Here we would do well to approach this fascinating series in both directions in order to fully experience the lyrical story, which undoubtedly refers to old masters such as Rubens, Rembrandt and not least to Caravaggio. Based on mythological nymphs and verse fragments, such as 'dans mes rêves naguère vous êtes plus beau q'un cheval' by the Greek poet Sappho, we are drawn to the middle to conclude that we are now looking for oxygen to quickly embrace nirvana.The frail, almost lifeless girl with her arm spread wide open fragile externally portrays the saga of existentialist fear. Unconsciously, we are longing for "das punkt", the place of rest that makes the complete synthesis of this committed exhibition and makes us decide ... Que le monde tourne mal!"

ABOUT BERT DAENEN
​
Bert Daenen specializes in creating timeless, serene portraits in their own specific style. In 2019 his work has been exhibited in the Tongeren Basilica as part of the "MoMeNT" culture festival. This exhibition became one of the highlights of the culture festival and did not escape the attention of the press and the cultural world. Last summer, Bert released the series "Behind the Mask", a series on the corona theme in Hasselt. A high-profile exhibition about which, among other things, the VRT news broadcasted an item.
At the start of 2021 Bert received four awards from the Federation of European Photographers for his exquisite work. When taking part at the group exhibition 'Unknown Masterpieces' in Knokke-Heist, he got a remarkable mention from the Italian magazine 'Vogue'.
